[earth wind and fire experience featuring Al McKay Allstars concert!]
oh yeah baby me, my uncle, and my mom and her friends went to the Earth Wind and Fire Experience concert featuring the Al McKay Allstars yesterday (sunday 9 March). we were all hyped up about the concert la basically. I only just realised that i'm not only going with my mom and her best friend but also with my uncle and some other people whom i vaguely remember in my life previously. anyways it was abit awkward at first and we loosened up gradually. some of us were worried we'd want to go to the toilet half way along the concert to drink when we went to drink. anyways when we got to the esplanade theatre we were shown the way to our seats my the polite ushers. amazingly and never before in my life... WE GOT FRONT ROW SEATS!!!! we were abit sceptical at first but we soon found out that one of the friends was responsible for it. we gratefully thanked her and teased her. haha. my mom was shouting something like "harun mak yah!". whatever la. anyways the concert started on time (8pm as stated on ticket) which is also a first for me. haha.
initially i was disappointed that the original line up of Earth Wind and Fire weren't performing but we warmed up to the band. They were really awesome. It was a 14 piece band with Al McKay playing lead guitar. there were 3 vocalists(all black) who were really sexy even the fat one,who happen to be Al's little brother, the Earth Wind and Fire signature Phenix Horns (1 white and awesome saxophonist who looks like my uncle,1 trombonist who i read is suppose to be dead or something lol,and 2 trumpet players 1 of them very funny and enthusiastic), 2 keyboardist,1 percussionist,1 drummer(who is only 22 and such an awesome not to mention hot white dude), 1 bassist(who looked at me dance like i was the hottest thing on earth and made me feel sexy lol!). hahaa! that dude can dance man. anyways the choreography was awesome.. stimulating. the songs fuh! although they cant beat Maurice White's and Phillip Bailey's vocals. The vocalists were really talented people, 1 having performed with/for stevie wonder and barry white, 1 with the emotions and others, and the other is a choreographer,hair stylist and designer. awesome,awesome stuff i tell u.
The songs were performed with such passion we cant help but to get swept away with it. The band played brilliantly down to the very last note! they sang all the hit songs and from what i gather some new ones. one of them ( tim something i cant remember his last name) sang while looking at my mom's best friend and she was so embarrassed while he just grinned so widely like his mouth was threatening to tear his face apart. tim and edwin(the sax player) also serenaded a japanese woman who was in the first row and another woman during the song "reasons" miming what Phillip Bailey did on the Earth Wind and Fire DVD. that wasted a good 10mins at least. but after that edwin got a standing ovation and a get a drink sign by one of the friend. lol. along half way through the concert they asked us to stand up (the whole theatre was on their feet and dancing like maniacs while waving the light thingy) and played all their fast and upbeat numbers like fantasy ( my fav), september, boogie wonderland etc. and we didnt sit down and kept dancing like mad(including me and the bassist was shaking his head going "wooh/fuh!" with his mouth and Al's bro kept glancing at me i think which only spurred me on) till the end to which none of us wanted to go home and started chanting and cheering and stomping and throwing the liquid light thingy. they finally came out again with the crowd shouting and screaming. the trumpetist threw the lights back to the audience. haha! i was laughing the whole time. Al McKay came to the mike and said " we love you singapore! u made us tired up here! this is actually our second time here but this is the first public concert. and i definitely made a good decision to play here( not sure abt this part. its something to this effect) " and proceeded to introduce the band and vocalists. it was tim's birthday too. haha. and tim kept urging us to echo him which we did and he said " i love y'all!" to which one of the friends said "diorang tipu kita ah!" and i laughed again. anyways they kept saying they loved us and that we were awesome which i absolutely love and appreciate. i love grateful performers. haha.
so they proceeded to perform somemore songs like lets groove and more to which we kept on dancing. haha! there were so many cute and hot musicians up there and they're all infront of my innocent and hungry eyes. haha! after the concert finally ended and they bowed thank yous, one of the friend called out to the trumpet player " yo! yo!" and like tapped their knuckles. haha! and then he called out to one of the vocalist and shook his hand. i was laughing like hell. it was an absolutely amazing experience and so far this is hands down the best concert i've been to. nothing can top this performance for now. haha! to top it all off..when we were swept by the throngs of people trying to get on the escalator,i saw claud and his gf farah. haha. dont know what they were doing there. but claud looked like he hasnt shaved for awhile which i think looks ok on him. haha! if farhan wasnt lying to me, he said that farah is a chinese so i am okay. haha.
oh and i just got news that one of the friends(the same one who shook hands with the vocalist) apparently talked to the sax player after the concert and when we all have gone our separate ways. we dont know what he said to edwin but got news that edwin said we all knew how to dance. hahaha! NOW THAT WAS NICE! considering i've never danced unchoreographed before. haha. i love it. i'm smiling like a nutcase right now. the euphoria will probably last till tomorrow. haha!
anyways,this has been a pretty long entry. haha! sorry i cant provide pictures. "the performers requested that there'll not be any photography. and since we were all too busy enjoying and dancing.. me oogling at guys.. there wasnt the time. haha! EH SARAH NEXT TIME THERES A CONCERT WITH ARTISTS WE BOTH LIKE(with the exception of chris brown) I BLANJA YOU! haha. ok so thats all. bye, take care and good night! btw the song Mi Buen Amor by Gloria Estefan is so soothing and sweet and it apparently reminds me of claud. bleah. have a listen if u have the time. haha!
